[WTW] I sometimes find using "FYI/for your information" a bit in-your-face and aggressive when I text. Are there any other less provocative or more polite terms/phrases to use instead? Thanks.

What's happened to levels.fyi

Main Post:

Really liked it before, easy to navigate, etc. Now I have to sign up and add three salaries in order to see anything?!?

I've already added my salary anonymously and I don't want to add it again, nor do I want to spoof two other salaries and add crap data in order to see anything. Feels like they made a terrible decision.

Top Comment: Co-founder of Levels.fyi here. If you're signed in you shouldn't see any of those popups. Lmk if you do. We've had to add login to help prevent scraping. People were often DDOSing our backend and login helps protect against bad actors.

How reliable are levels.fyi and glassdoor?

Main Post:

Especially for the salary data. Can it be trusted or is it biased? For example only expats filling in data while locals don't. Or only people working in big companies and not in small to medium sized ones, etc...

I built a productivity tool for myself - time.fyi

Main Post:

Hey everyone!

I have been using multiple tools for timezones, productivity tracking, and scheduling (each with its own quirks and premium subscriptions). I always wanted one minimal tool that could do it all for me. Since I couldn't find one, I decided to build it myself.

I have been working on, personally using, and continuously improving time.fyi for the past 6 months. I am finally happy with it, so I decided to publish it for others to use as well. It currently has 6 apps: timezones for personal and team usage, pomodoro, daily planner, world clock, timer, and stopwatch. Scheduling links and a time tracker (for freelancers or productivity tracking) are in progress and will be launched soon.

I am really excited to share it with the world. Please do give it a try and let me know what you think!

Thank you!

How accurate are the reported salaries on levels.fyi?

Main Post:

Median of 237k in the Bay Area? I guess it’s possible, but with all the FAANG’s there you would assume that the 99th percentile would be something crazy but it’s 550k.

What’s strange to me is the numbers for smaller cities like Boulder, CO, for example. Median of 170k. Even Austin is surprising to me at 146k? Can anyone in these markets confirm this? It’s quite a bit higher than what I see thrown around in this sub.

Do you guys use Levels.fyi?

Main Post:

I came across Levers.fyi recently and saw that they allow users to submit their offer letter/payslips to their platform (https://www.levels.fyi/addcomp.html).

Just curious to know if anyone has uploaded their information before - why would you post such sensitive information online?

And also those people who won't post their information - why would you hesitate to post your payslips (given that the wider community can benefit from the verifiable data and increase in salary transparency)?

Top Comment: I don't see compensation as sensitive information. My company has a giant spreadsheet where people can share their salary. If people ask me how much I make, I have no issue telling them.
